Checked

21 findings in 12 profiles, read again against the source on 1 October 2026.

Checked means the cited document supports the summary on that date. It does not decide whether a clause is enforceable, and it is not legal advice.

An 18th-century indenture, a handwritten contract on parchment, unrolled

How a finding is checked

  1. Read the source. The company's own document or a regulator's announcement, noting which service it covers and the date.
  2. Check the limits. Look for state and country rules, opt-outs, small-claims exceptions and plan differences. Keep allegations and proposed orders apart from outcomes.
  3. Publish what holds. Keep the summary narrow, say what changes its meaning, and link the full document. No scores on this page.

Adobe

Subscription plans and U.S. enforcement announcement

Annual commitment, monthly bills

Some annual plans paid monthly charge an early-cancellation fee of 50% of the remaining contract obligation after the applicable refund window.

Context and exceptions. This is not universal: plan, location and promotional terms differ. Month-to-month subscriptions have different cancellation terms. Check the section for your exact plan.

Subscriptions. Adobe Subscription and Cancellation Terms

Settlement was not all cash

On March 13, 2026, DOJ announced a proposed settlement requiring $75 million in civil penalties and $75 million in free customer services.

Context and exceptions. DOJ’s announcement describes a proposed order subject to court entry. It does not support saying Adobe had already paid $150 million in cash.

Enforcement. DOJ announcement, March 13, 2026

Amazon

Historical U.S. Prime enrollment and cancellation enforcement

$2.5 billion Prime settlement

The FTC announced a September 2025 settlement over alleged unwanted Prime enrollment and obstructive cancellation: $1 billion in penalties and $1.5 billion in consumer refunds.

Context and exceptions. This concerns historical practices. The settlement requires clearer enrollment disclosures and easier cancellation; it does not establish that the old cancellation flow remains in use.

Carnival Cruise Line

U.S. Carnival ticket contract and privacy notice

Venue and arbitration restrictions

The ticket contract routes covered non-injury claims above $8,000 to individual arbitration in Miami-Dade County.

Context and exceptions. Personal injury, illness and death are outside that clause. Covered claims below $8,000 go to Miami-Dade small-claims court. Separate forum and timing provisions also apply.

Arbitration. Ticket Contract, §13(d)–(e)

Advertising data disclosures

Carnival discloses selling or sharing identifiers, commercial information, preferences, and internet/network/device information in the preceding 12 months.

Context and exceptions. “Sale” and “sharing” have statutory meanings. The notice describes state-dependent privacy rights and opt-out mechanisms.

Data sharing. Privacy Notice, Region-Specific Disclosures

Disney

Walt Disney family of companies, U.S. state privacy notice

Targeted-advertising disclosures

Disney discloses sale, sharing or targeted-advertising processing of identifiers, demographics, commercial information, browsing activity, approximate location and inferences.

Context and exceptions. The notice provides opt-out links and says it does not sell/share/process for targeted advertising the information of known minors under 18. This finding is broader than Disney+ alone.

Data sharing. Your U.S. State Privacy Rights

Dollar General

Website/app terms and privacy policy

Individual arbitration

Website/app disputes generally go to individual arbitration under Dollar General’s terms.

Context and exceptions. The terms retain qualifying individual small-claims cases and court actions concerning intellectual-property misuse; they do not prohibit every court proceeding.

Arbitration. Terms and Conditions, Arbitration Agreement

Sale/sharing disclosure includes non-account holders

The privacy policy discloses statutory sale, sharing and targeted-advertising processing for both account holders and people without Dollar General accounts.

Context and exceptions. These terms describe privacy-law classifications, not necessarily cash sales of every person’s data. Review the policy’s privacy choices and applicable state rights.

Arbitration has an opt-out

Equifax Consumer Services terms contain arbitration and class-action restrictions, with a written opt-out window of 30 days after acceptance or receipt of the agreement.

Context and exceptions. The notice must include the specified identifying details and go to the listed postal address. The agreement preserves qualifying small-claims cases.

Arbitration. Terms, Arbitration Provision

Renewal and fee changes

Memberships auto-renew unless cancelled. The terms reserve the ability to change membership fees with or without notice.

Context and exceptions. Some products are free. For paid memberships, the offer and purchase confirmation define the initial term and payment arrangements.

GM / OnStar

Connected Vehicle Services User Terms

Arbitration for connected services

The connected-services terms generally require individual arbitration and include class-action and jury waivers.

Context and exceptions. Section 28.9(E) exempts qualifying small-claims cases and intellectual-property disputes. This finding concerns connected services, not every GM product or vehicle-sale contract.

Arbitration. Connected Vehicle Services User Terms, §28.9

Remote software changes

GM reserves the ability to remotely access, install, update or change software used for connected services or vehicle systems without additional notice or consent.

Context and exceptions. Other provisions describe service cancellation and notice of paid-service price increases; remote updates are not a blanket right to impose any charge.

Changing terms. User Terms, Summary / Software

Kroger

U.S. website/app terms and Boost membership

Arbitration with exceptions

Kroger’s website terms generally require individual arbitration and waive class actions.

Context and exceptions. Small-claims cases, intellectual-property claims and personal bodily-injury claims have exceptions. A mandatory 60-day informal process applies before covered arbitration.

Arbitration. Website & App Terms, §19.1

Trial converts to paid

An available 30-day Boost trial converts to the selected paid plan unless cancelled. Kroger says it sends no separate trial-ending notice unless legally required.

Context and exceptions. Plans may be monthly or annual. Auto-renewal can be disabled on the membership page; refund rights depend on timing and use.

Subscriptions. Boost Terms, Free Trial / Auto-Renewal

Microsoft

Microsoft Services Agreement, U.S. residents

Arbitration, with a local small-claims option

For U.S. residents, the agreement contains binding arbitration and a class-action waiver. It allows qualifying individual small-claims cases in the customer’s county of residence.

Context and exceptions. Section 15 also allows rejection of future arbitration changes, other than address changes, by signed postal notice within 30 days. That is not a general opt-out of the initial agreement.

Arbitration. Microsoft Services Agreement, §15

Content retention. Terms of Use, User Content

Advertising technology sharing

Orkin discloses statutory sale/sharing of identifiers, commercial information, location, internet usage and inferences with advertising, analytics and data providers.

Context and exceptions. The policy says it does not sell information for money and describes opt-outs, including recognized Global Privacy Control signals. Independently operated franchise practices are outside this policy.

Spotify

U.S. terms and privacy policy

Liability cap has exceptions

The terms cap covered aggregate liability at the greater of payments in the preceding 12 months or $30.

Context and exceptions. The terms expressly preserve liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, and death or personal injury where applicable law prohibits limiting it. “No matter what happens, only $30” is inaccurate.

Liability. Terms, Limitation of liability

Marketing partners can combine data

Spotify’s privacy policy says marketing partners may combine disclosed personal data with information they collect through their own services.

Context and exceptions. Spotify says it does not disclose under-18 users’ data to marketing partners by default. Tailored advertising opt-outs are available through settings or the website’s privacy-choices link.
