The fine print

5 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

  1. Already-filed disputes get yanked into private arbitration; the only escape is a paper letter with your real signature within 30 days — or quitting PayPal.

You agree that any filed or pending arbitrations between you and PayPal will be subject to this Arbitration Agreement… If you do not wish to have this Arbitration Agreement apply… you must close your PayPal account prior to the effective date." Opt-out requires "a written notice postmarked no later than 30 days after the date you accept the user agreement for the first time" with "your original handwritten signature."

  2. Your money locked six months on rules they won't tell you about.

Holding the balance in your Balance Account… for up to 180 days if reasonably needed to protect against the risk of liability"; "we have no obligation to disclose the details of our risk management or security procedures to you."

  3. Your shopping tastes go to stores automatically; hunt down the off switch (three states exempt).

Personal information we disclose includes, for example, products, preferences, sizes, and styles we think you'll like… will be shared with participating stores where you shop, unless you live in California, North Dakota, or Vermont."

  4. The contract changes under your feet; your only vote is leaving.

The revised version will be effective at the time we post it… By continuing to use our services after any changes… you agree to abide and be bound by those changes. If you do not agree… you may close your account."

  5. Deleting your account doesn't delete the data pipeline.

When you are no longer our customer, we continue to share your information as described in this notice."
