Where Autodesk does well

  • You Own Your Work: General Terms Section 5 states 'You will retain Your ownership rights to files, designs, models, data sets, images, documents or similar material created by You... submitted or uploaded to an Offering' - Autodesk takes no IP ownership of your designs.
  • Privacy: you can delete personal data and close your account, and Autodesk honors the browser Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of advertising sharing, plus a 'Do Not Sell or Share' footer link; it states it does not exchange personal information for money.
  • Auto-renew is genuinely cancellable at any time for any reason with the subscription staying active until expiry, and Autodesk sends at least one email reminder before each annual renewal.
  • Autodesk also publishes a Transparency Report on how it handles law enforcement requests for customer data.

If you have a dispute with Autodesk you cannot sue them in court or join a class action — every claim goes to a private arbitrator, one-on-one.

The fine print

6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

  1. If you have a dispute with Autodesk you cannot sue them in court or join a class action — every claim goes to a private arbitrator, one-on-one.

You and Autodesk agree to binding individual arbitration of any Claim arising out of or relating to an Offering or these Terms and waive any right to go to court and have a trial in front of a judge or jury.

  2. No class actions, no group claims — even if dozens of customers were hit the same way, each must fight alone.

All Claims arising out of, or relating to, the Marketplace or these Terms must be arbitrated or litigated on an individual basis and not on a class basis. Claims of more than one customer or user cannot be arbitrated or litigated jointly or consolidated with those of any other customer or user.

  3. Auto-renewal is on by default the moment you buy — the purchase button itself is your consent to be charged again every term until you cancel.

If You purchase a service or subscription, then by clicking on the 'Submit Order', 'Buy', or similar termed button and completing Your purchase, You expressly request and authorize Autodesk to automatically renew Your service or subscription for successive renewal terms each equal in length to the initial term purchased by You, at the purchase price for Your initial term (plus any/all applicable taxes and other fees and charges), unless Autodesk notifies You of a price change.

  4. Autodesk can raise the price at renewal as long as they notify you first — your only recourse is to cancel before the renewal date.

Autodesk may change the renewal price of Your service or subscription as of the next renewal date and Autodesk will provide You with prior notice if Autodesk does so. Prior to the effective date of Your renewal... You can elect to cancel an automatic renewal for a particular service or subscription at any time and for any reason (including if You do not agree to a price change) by logging on to Your Autodesk Account and following the steps to cancel that automatic renewal.

  5. Autodesk admits some of its ad-tech transfers count as 'selling' your personal data under California law — including identifiers, commercial info, geolocation, browsing activity, visual/audio data, and inferences — shared with ad partners and social networks for targeted advertising.

California law treats certain disclosures of personal information with third parties in exchange for something of value as 'sales,' even when no money changes hands. Autodesk does not exchange your personal information for money. However, some of the technologies we use to provide our offerings involve transfers of personal information that may be considered a 'sale' under California law.

Autodesk Privacy Statement (effective Jan 1, 2026)

  6. Anything you shared or published through Autodesk's collaboration features lives on even after you cancel — closing your account doesn't pull back shared content.

If You choose to share or publish Your Content, others may be able to use, sell, reproduce, modify, distribute, make available, display, transmit and communicate Your Content, and suspending or terminating access will not delete or inhibit access to any of Your Content that was earlier shared or published.

How these were found

Autodesk Online Purchase Terms (USA) last updated December 3, 2025 - read directly at autodesk.com. Privacy Statement effective January 1, 2026 - read directly at autodesk.com. Autodesk Design and Make Marketplace Terms of Use (appstore.autodesk.com, official Autodesk domain) last updated May 3, 2026 - read directly. Autodesk General Terms read via a verbatim third-party mirror (dlt.com, an Autodesk reseller's hosted PDF of the General Terms, May 2023 version); the direct autodesk.com General Terms page returned HTTP 403 to automated fetch, so General Terms quotes are close paraphrase-verified from the mirror - the arbitration/class-waiver substance is corroborated on Autodesk's own domain by the Marketplace TOU. Note Autodesk frames its online purchases as business-to-business transactions.
