Where Snap-on does well
- Snap-on states plainly in its California disclosures that it does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral/targeted advertising, and does not do so for minors under 16 — better than many peers.
- The privacy policy offers real data rights: deletion, access, and correction via a toll-free number (844-972-1285) and a dedicated Data Protection Manager email, with a non-discrimination promise.
- It does not knowingly collect data from children under
- Some Snap-on documents (e.g., the diagnostics software license) require service suppliers to use personal data only for their assigned function and only until payment is processed, and promise an opt-out before unrelated uses.
You cannot sue Snap-on in court over anything related to their website — every dispute goes to private binding arbitration.
The fine print
6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.
-
You cannot sue Snap-on in court over anything related to their website — every dispute goes to private binding arbitration. And you lose your claim entirely if you don't file within one year, even though normal laws give you much longer. No arbitration opt-out is offered.
Any controversy or dispute between you and Snap-on concerning this Site or the Materials shall be submitted to final and binding arbitration as the sole and exclusive remedy for such controversy or dispute. Any claim shall be made by filing a demand for arbitration within one (1) year following the occurrence first giving rise to the claim.

Snap-on can change the rules whenever it wants, and just by continuing to use the site you automatically agree — there's no notice requirement and no chance to decline.
Snap-on can revise these Terms and Conditions at any time by modifying or updating this posting. Your use of this Site on or after the effective date of any such modification or update will constitute your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions as modified and/or updated.
-
Your personal data — including financial and sensitive categories per their disclosure chart — is handed to Snap-on group companies, thousands of independent franchisees and distributors, plus outside parties like social media platforms, credit bureaus, and debt collectors.
We disclose your personal information to our franchisees so they can know their customers and potential customers' needs and preferences, and serve them better... We will also disclose your personal information to selected non-affiliated third parties such as social media, credit reference agencies, debt collection agencies, and professional service providers.
-
Their diagnostics data subscription auto-renews every year, you can't get a refund once you pay, and Snap-on can raise the price or rewrite the terms whenever it wants — it's on you to keep checking what the terms now say.
If selected, the Subscription will automatically renew on an annual basis unless Customer cancels the Subscription prior to the next applicable renewal period. Once paid, the Fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable. The Fee is subject to change in subsequent renewal years at Snapon's sole discretion... Snapon reserves the right to amend these Subscription terms at any time. It is the Customer's responsibility to be aware of the amendments and updates.
-
Anything you send Snap-on — an idea, a photo, a suggestion — becomes their permanent property, forever, which they can use commercially without paying you or even crediting you. You also have to cover their legal bills if your own submission causes them trouble.
All remarks, suggestions, ideas, graphics, or other information communicated to Snap-on through this Site (together, the 'Submission') will forever be the property of Snap-on... Snap-on... will be entitled to use the Submission for any commercial or other purpose whatsoever without compensation to you or any other person sending the Submission.
-
There's no fixed deletion schedule — Snap-on keeps your data (including sensitive data) indefinitely if it decides that's 'advisable' for its legal position. You can ask for deletion, but vague carve-outs give them broad room to refuse.
We will endeavor not to keep your personal information in a form that allows you to be identified for any longer than is reasonably necessary... We retain each category of personal information, including Sensitive Personal Information, for as long as needed or permitted in light of the purpose(s) for which it was collected. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include... whether retention is advisable in light of our legal position, such as in regard to applicable statutes of limitations, litigation or regulatory investigations.
How these were found
Document versioning: neither the main Terms & Conditions page nor the Privacy Policy displayed a visible 'last updated' date in the fetched text (search-engine cache showed crawls ~6-100 days before Oct 1, 2026). The 2022 security-incident class-action settlement notice is an official court settlement document hosted by the claims administrator (angeion-public.s3.amazonaws.com), not on Snap-on's own domain. Snap-on Credit LLC consumer financing contracts are signed at point of sale through franchise dealers and are not published online, so financing terms could not be reviewed; only the financing-relevant privacy disclosures were scored. The subsidiary/OEM-program terms (Harley-Davidson, Honda, VW programs, ServiceRanger) mirror the same cancellation/return restrictions but were read only as search snippets.
