Lowe's
Consumer Discretionary

out of 100. Number 121 of 512, counting from the worst.
Where Lowe's does well
- Renewals 2 of 20. Few problems found.
- Lowe's extends the right to opt out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising to residents of all states, not only states with privacy laws.
- ALPR parking-lot data is not sold; retention is capped at 90 days with permanent deletion, role-based audited access, and accuracy validation.
- The Protection Plan has no cancellation fee: cancel within 30 days for a full refund (minus benefits paid), pro-rata after; and the plan provider advances all or part of arbitration fees.
- Self-checkout ID scans are not stored — only fraud-prevention checks like no-receipt returns require ID.
If you buy a Lowe's Protection Plan for an appliance or other product, you surrender your right to sue in court over any dispute — it must go through private, individual arbitration with no class claims allowed.
The fine print
6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

Close your Lowe's account and every reward you earned disappears with it — your unused MyLowe's Money, your points, your benefits — all gone, nothing paid out. The terms also state rewards 'have no cash value' and 'do not constitute property' of the member.
If you are enrolled in the MyLowe's Rewards Program and decide to deactivate or cancel your Personal Account, you will lose access to any stored information in your Personal Account, accrued and unused benefits, including any unused MyLowe's Money saved in your Wallet.

Lowe's openly admits it 'sells' your data to advertisers: identifiers, browsing activity, purchase history, professional info, protected-class traits like age range and gender, and inferred preferences go to ad networks and social media companies, who build customer profiles on you. It also records keystroke rhythms, mouse movements and scrolling on its site and app.
We share your personal information with digital advertising partners for purposes including online targeted marketing and measuring the effectiveness of such marketing. Certain digital advertising partners combine the information into a customer profile... This disclosure may be considered a "sale" or a "share" under applicable laws.

Lowe's in-store security cameras record video, audio and photos of shoppers — including, by its own admission, visible traits like race, ethnicity or disability — and parking lots at some stores run automated license-plate readers logging your car, plate, date, time and location.
Our cameras may be in fixed locations throughout the store or physically worn by trained security specialists. They capture video, audio, and images... Like all cameras, our cameras can capture physically visible attributes, such as characteristics like race, ethnicity, or disability.

You agree that Lowe's may change, terminate, suspend, modify, add, end or delete any of these Additional Personal Account and MyLowe's Rewards Program Terms... Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting the revisions... Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice... Lowe's reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted.

How these were found
Privacy Statement PDF mirror (lowesfoundation.org) is verbatim content of the official lowes.com statement, effective April 21, 2025, crawled 127 days ago; the live lowes.com privacy page fetched Oct 1, 2026 matched the mirror's ALPR/camera disclosures. Lowe's Protection Plan T&Cs (ELPP0017S-0524-V5-0724-LP, July 2024 version) read via a verbatim PDF mirror at sepp.net (official copies hosted on lowes blob storage); it is administered by Federal Warranty Service Corp/Assurant, not Lowe's directly. The fetched lowes.com Terms of Use page covered the Personal Account/MyLowe's Rewards terms portion only; a general dispute-resolution section was not present in the fetched text, so the arbitration score rests on the protection-plan clause (plus the old TOS arbitration clause documented in a Lexology court-decision analysis). Loyalty terms quotations are direct from the fetched lowes.com terms page. Lowe's credit-card agreements (issued by Synchrony/Amex) and installation contract terms were not reviewed.
