Where Idexx Laboratories does well

  • Renewals 0 of 20. Nothing found.
  • No forced arbitration clause — disputes are resolved in actual courts (Portland, Maine / Toronto / applicable EMEA venue), which is notably better than the consumer-tech standard.
  • The Privacy Policy Statement explicitly says Idexx does not sell email addresses, phone/fax numbers, or other personally identifiable information to other companies.
  • VetConnect PLUS fee increases require at least 60 days' notice, and you can simply stop using the service rather than pay — no cancellation trap there. Credit card data submitted through IDEXX online orders goes directly to a third-party payment processor; Idexx says it does not store or retain it. Under CCPA, Idexx positions itself as a Service Provider/Contractor that will not sell customer personal information or use it outside the direct business relationship.

You give up the right to bring or join a class action against Idexx — any dispute must be fought alone. (There is no forced arbitration clause; disputes go to courts, but only in Portland, Maine for US customers.)

The fine print

6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

  1. You give up the right to bring or join a class action against Idexx — any dispute must be fought alone. (There is no forced arbitration clause; disputes go to courts, but only in Portland, Maine for US customers.)

To the extent allowed by law, you and IDEXX agree that any proceedings to resolve or litigate any dispute, whether in arbitration, in court, or otherwise, will be conducted solely on an individual basis, and that neither you nor IDEXX will seek to have any dispute heard as a class action, a representative action, a collective action, a private attorney-general action, or in any proceeding in which you or IDEXX acts or proposes to act in a representative capacity.

  2. By buying or using Idexx products, you waive your right to a jury trial, give up punitive damages, and cannot argue that being forced to sue in Portland, Maine is an inconvenient forum.

You and IDEXX agree that each party waives: (a) any claims against the other for multiple, punitive or exemplary damages; (b) any claim of lack of jurisdiction or inconvenient forum; and (c) any right trial by jury.

  3. Idexx can rewrite its entire contract with you whenever it wants, on its own say-so — no notice period is promised in this clause.

We may change the Master Terms at any time, at our sole discretion.

  4. Idexx can hand your practice's data to third parties without asking you first (as long as it's anonymized), and it keeps using that data even after you stop using the service.

We may also provide your practice's data, without any references that would permit identification of your practice or your clients, to third parties, in a manner consistent with the IDEXX Privacy Policy... without your prior consent. You also agree that IDEXX may continue to use aggregated anonymized Personal Data after your use of the Service ends.

VetConnect PLUS Terms of Service (outside North America), Revision October 1, 2026

  5. Any X-rays or diagnostic images you submit through Idexx systems become licensed to Idexx forever — the license survives even after you stop being a customer, and can be used for research, improving Idexx's commercial products, and a reference library for other customers.

By using any Offerings that permit submission of or generate diagnostic images ... you grant IDEXX a royalty-free, worldwide, nonexclusive, perpetual license to access, edit, modify, adapt, translate, exhibit, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer of, reproduce, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display and otherwise use any diagnostic images submitted, archived, created, or accessed through such services. You acknowledge that this license does not terminate if you cease to be an IDEXX customer.

  6. If Idexx loses or deletes your data, you have no recourse — it disclaims all responsibility for data loss, even though this is a cloud diagnostics platform.

You agree that IDEXX has no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the deletion or failure to store for any reason Content maintained or transmitted by the Service. IDEXX assumes no responsibility for the accuracy, availability, timeliness, deletion, or mis-delivery of, or failure to store, any user communications, data or personalization settings.

How these were found

Idexx is a B2B veterinary diagnostics company; its legal documents are vendor-customer terms, not consumer-facing clickwrap, so several rubric categories (auto-renew traps, consumer marketing-data harvesting) barely apply — the modest score reflects what actually exists. Documents read directly: One IDEXX Master Terms, Revision December 23, 2024 (current per idexx.com); VetConnect PLUS Terms of Service OUS, Revision October 1, 2026 (current per idexx.com). The Privacy Policy Statement was read via a verbatim third-party mirror (docsbay.net, crawled ~58 days ago) because the canonical idexx.com privacy-policy landing page was not directly fetchable in this session; its exact current version date is unverified and the text appears to be an earlier revision. No auto-renew or forced-arbitration clause was found in any document reviewed.

These notes come from the original draft and are not independent verification.
