Where GoDaddy does well
- GoDaddy's privacy notice contains an explicit 'No Sale of Personal Data' pledge: 'We do not sell, lease, rent, or transfer personal data to third parties for monetary or other consideration' — a clearer commitment than many peers make.
- The arbitration regime applies only to US users (subsections 25(D), (E), and (F) do not apply outside the US), and there is an opt-out mechanism for retroactive application of dispute-resolution changes (email OPTOUT@godaddy.com within 30 days), plus IP claims (trade secret, patent, copyright, trademark) are carved out of arbitration.
- Domain renewal pricing rules are disclosed in writing — renewal defaults to the visible list (non-sale) price, so the intro-price uplift is at least documented rather than hidden.
- The privacy notice also supports self-service privacy rights and data portability for all individuals, recognizes the Global Privacy Control where required by law, and states that privacy-policy changes apply to previously collected data 'only to the extent the new statement does not reduce the rights of affected data subjects.'
You cannot sue GoDaddy in a class action and you give up your right to a jury trial.
The fine print
10 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

You cannot sue GoDaddy in a class action and you give up your right to a jury trial. Any unresolved dispute must go to binding individual arbitration through the American Arbitration Association, held in Maricopa County, Arizona. Before you can even file, you must complete a mandatory 60-day informal dispute process with a personally signed dispute notice — skipping it is itself a breach of the agreement.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, YOU AND GoDaddy ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT EACH PARTY TO THIS AGREEMENT MAY BRING DISPUTES AGAINST THE OTHER PARTY ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE LEGAL PROCEEDING... TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, YOU AND GoDaddy EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.

Every product auto-renews by default, and the renewal is billed at GoDaddy's 'then current' rate — not the price you originally paid. Combined with the domain terms, this is the classic intro-price trap: the cheap first-year domain price you bought is replaced at renewal by the full list price.
TO HELP SAFEGUARD AGAINST ANY INTERRUPTION OR LOSS OF SERVICES, ALL SERVICES ARE OFFERED ON AUTOMATIC RENEWAL UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED... RENEWALS WILL BE CHARGED AT GoDaddy'S THEN CURRENT RATES, WHICH YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE MAY BE HIGHER OR LOWER THAN THE RATES FOR THE ORIGINAL SERVICE PERIOD.
-
Domains renew at the non-sale list price, not the discounted price you paid upfront. And GoDaddy reserves the right to change that renewal price any time before the renewal date — so the renewal price you saw at checkout isn't locked in.
Unless otherwise specifically noted... the renewal price for any domain name in any TLD will be the same as the list (non-sale) price shown when you search for and select a domain, and again in the cart prior to purchase. For example, if the list price is €8.67, and a different renewal price is not specifically identified, then the renewal price is also €8.67 [even if the sale price shown was €7.80]. * Renewal price subject to change prior to actual date of renewal.

GoDaddy hands your personal data to marketers and advertisers so they can build and deliver personalized ads — even though the same document claims it does not 'sell' personal data. The distinction is lawyerly: your data feeds ad targeting regardless of what label they put on it.
We disclose personal data: ... to marketers and advertisers, including for the purpose of creating and delivering personalized marketing and advertising messages.

GoDaddy can rewrite the contract whenever it wants, effective the moment it posts the change online, and can change or discontinue services and prices at any time. Your only remedy if you dislike the new terms is to stop using the services — and auto-renewing ones will bill you again unless you cancel first.
GoDaddy may, in its sole and absolute discretion, change or modify this Agreement, and any policies or agreements which are incorporated herein, at any time, and such changes or modifications shall be effective immediately upon posting to this Site... GoDaddy RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MODIFY, CHANGE, OR DISCONTINUE ANY ASPECT OF THIS SITE OR THE SERVICES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION PRICES AND FEES FOR THE SAME, AT ANY TIME.

Even after you delete your content or leave, GoDaddy can keep server copies of it indefinitely, and the broad license you granted them is 'perpetual and irrevocable.' The privacy policy adds only that data is kept for 'our business needs and to comply with law' — no fixed deletion timeline.
The above licenses granted by you in your User Content terminate within a commercially reasonable time after you remove or delete your User Content from this Site. You understand and agree, however, that GoDaddy may retain (but not distribute, display, or perform) server copies of your User Content that have been removed or deleted. The above licenses granted by you in your User Content are perpetual and irrevocable.

If your bank disputes a GoDaddy charge (even for one product), GoDaddy can instantly delete your domains and services without warning — potentially taking down your website, email, and business domain as collateral for a billing dispute.
if GoDaddy receives notification of a chargeback, reversal, payment dispute, or is charged a penalty for any fee it previously charged to your Payment Method, you agree that GoDaddy may pursue all available lawful remedies in order to obtain payment, including but not limited to, immediate cancellation, without notice to you, of any domain names or Services registered or renewed on your behalf.
-
The moment your domain expires, GoDaddy seizes control of it and points it to an ad-filled parked page — monetizing traffic to your lapsed domain for its own benefit until you pay to get the domain back.
Return To Parked Page Default Setting Upon Domain Name Expiration. Upon domain name expiration... your domain name will automatically return to the Parked Page Default Setting described above. Once your domain name has returned to the Parked Page Default Setting described above, the only way to opt out of the Parked Page service is to renew, redeem, or re-register your domain name.
-
If GoDaddy terminates your account for any reason, any store credit balance you've built up vanishes instantly — no refund, no payout.
In the event that GoDaddy terminates your Account, you acknowledge and agree that any remaining In-Store Credits will be forfeited as of the date of termination.
-
Simply giving GoDaddy your phone number counts as consent to receive robocalls and prerecorded telemarketing calls from them — no separate opt-in checkbox required.
By providing your telephone number... you consent to receive marketing telephone calls from or on behalf of GoDaddy that may be initiated by an automatic telephone dialing system and/or use an artificial or prerecorded voice. You understand that providing consent is not a condition of purchasing any good or service from GoDaddy.
