Where Lennox International does well

  • Renewals 2 of 20. Few problems found.
  • Lennox is comparatively restrained in several areas: the privacy notice says no Personal Information is shared with third parties for their own direct marketing; no cookies are used for behavioral advertising or data sales; owners get a 30-day written opt-out of the warranty's arbitration clause (warranty stays intact), a small-claims court carve-out, Lennox pays all arbitration costs for claims of $25,000 or less, and California owners keep public injunctive relief rights.
  • The site Terms of Use contain no forced arbitration at all (Texas courts have jurisdiction).
  • Users have access, correction, deletion, portability, and appeal rights with a non-discrimination pledge, and express consent is required before processing Sensitive Personal Information.
  • Warranty coverage itself is decent: 5-year parts with 10-year to lifetime heat-exchanger coverage.

If your Lennox furnace or AC fails and you can't resolve it with Lennox, you cannot sue them — every dispute goes to a private arbitrator, and you give up your jury trial and any right to join a class action. 'Disputes' is defined so broadly it even covers claims that arose before the warranty existed.

The fine print

6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

Both the Owner and Lennox agree that all Disputes must be resolved exclusively through final and binding arbitration, and not by a court or jury... Both the Owner and Lennox waive the right to a trial by jury and any right to have a Dispute heard in court.

  2. If many homeowners get hit by the same defect and use the same law firm, Lennox stops paying arbitration costs and can bill its legal fees to owners who lose — a clause designed to kill coordinated consumer claims. The only way out is a mail-in opt-out notice postmarked within 30 days of purchase, which most buyers will never know about.

In the event of a Mass Arbitration, notwithstanding anything to the contrary... Lennox shall (i) not be required to advance or pay Arbitration Costs for any arbitration and (ii) may be awarded its reasonable attorney fees, expert fees, and costs if it prevails... A 'Mass Arbitration' shall be defined as... the same lawyer or law firm... files or causes to be filed 30 or more... Claims within a thirty-day period.

  3. Lennox tells you flatly it does not sell your data or use it for targeted ads, then in the next section admits that under California-style definitions it has 'sold' or 'shared' your identifiers and browsing history to marketing partners for exactly that purpose — the denial and the admission sit pages apart.

however, we have not and do not sell your Personal Information to third parties, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising... In the preceding 12 months, we have 'sold' or 'shared', as those terms are broadly defined by law, the following categories of Personal Information: Identifiers, Commercial Information, Internet or Other Similar Network Activity... with analytics and marketing partners... for sharing advertisements with you based on Personal Information we collect from your activities over time (also known as cross-contextual behavioral advertising or targeted advertising).

  4. Lennox collects Social Security numbers, bank and credit card details, thermostat geolocation, and builds profiles including your predicted household income. And you may never give Lennox your data directly — its dealers and referral sources hand over your personal information when equipment is purchased.

Financial Information: Bank account number, credit card number, debit card number, tax and credit history... Inferences: Profiles reflecting your interests, consumer preferences, likelihood to switch providers, or predicted household income... dealers and referral sources provide Lennox with Personal Information of third-party customers and other individuals upon purchase of a Lennox product.

  6. The warranty is loaded with ways to lose it: skip maintenance and it's void; your dealer's failure to file paperwork on time kills your claim with no recourse; claims must be filed within 45 days of failure; buying the unit online disqualifies it unless the seller also installs it; and Lennox disclaims all liability — even for death, injury, or property damage — to the fullest extent the law allows.

Failure to maintain equipment will void this Basic Limited Warranty... All warranty claims must be submitted within forty-five (45) days of the applicable product failure date... Lennox has no liability whatsoever in the event that the Owner's dealer or HVAC contractor fails to timely and/or properly file a claim hereunder... This Basic Limited Warranty does not apply to... Equipment or Covered Components that have been... ordered over the Internet, by telephone, or other electronic means, unless the dealer... is also the installing contractor... Lennox shall not be liable, either in contract or tort, for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or any loss, damage, or injury to persons, including death, property, or things.
