Where Eaton Corporation does well

  • Arbitration 0 of 20. Nothing found.
  • Renewals 0 of 20. Nothing found.
  • No forced arbitration clause or class-action waiver found in either the website Terms and Conditions or the MyEaton Terms of Use (Sept 19, 2025); disputes are governed by Ohio law, not private arbitration.
  • Eaton's CCPA chart reports 'None' for sold data across every personal-data category, and its Wi-Fi smart products privacy agreement states it does not share personal data with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
  • Eaton processes Global Privacy Control opt-out preference signals.
  • Deletion/correction rights exist with concrete channels (dataprotection@eaton.com, online form, CA residents +1-800-386-1911), and the applicant-portal privacy policy explicitly deletes job-applicant data on the legal schedule with session cookies deleted when the session ends.

Anything you post or upload on Eaton's site can be used, copied, sublicensed and publicly displayed by Eaton — and by any third party Eaton sublicenses it to — forever, royalty-free.

The fine print

6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

  1. Anything you post or upload on Eaton's site can be used, copied, sublicensed and publicly displayed by Eaton — and by any third party Eaton sublicenses it to — forever, royalty-free. This is a blanket IP license over customer-submitted content, not a consumer site asking for a perpetual sublicenseable license is unusual.

By posting messages, uploading files, inputting data or engaging in any other form of communication through this service, you agree to grant Eaton a royalty-free, perpetual, nonexclusive, unrestricted worldwide license to: Use, copy, sublicense, adapt, transmit, re-transmit, distribute and/or publicly perform or display any such communication. Sublicense to third parties the unrestricted right to exercise any of the foregoing rights granted with respect to the communication.

  2. Eaton can change the terms, delete the site, or terminate your access unilaterally and without notice, purely at its own discretion. Continued use after a change is deemed acceptance — there is no notice requirement for term changes.

Eaton may at any time, in its sole discretion: (1) revoke the access of any user to this site; (2) modify, change, withdraw or delete this site and/or any of these conditions of use in whole or in part. [...] This Agreement is effective until terminated by Eaton at any time for any reason without notice.

  3. Eaton's own CCPA chart admits identifiers, device location, and behavioral inferences are shared with ad networks for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising — this is 'sharing' under CCPA even though Eaton says it doesn't 'sell' personal data.

Categories of Personal Data: Identifiers, such as name, contact information, and online identifiers... / Shared with Which Categories of Third Parties for Cross-Context Behavioral or Targeted Advertising: [Ad networks]. Geolocation Data, such as device location ... Shared ... for Cross-Context Behavioral or Targeted Advertising: Ad networks. Inferences drawn from any of the Personal Data listed above ... Shared ... for Cross-Context Behavioral or Targeted Advertising: Ad networks.

    Privacy, cookies and data protection

  4. On the MyEaton B2B portal, your business account data can be handed to third-party sales reps and vendors, including companies that acquire parts of Eaton's business — at which point a different company's privacy policy applies to your data, and Eaton's promises no longer do.

Eaton does not sell Personal Data disclosed to it through MyEaton or any other features accessed through MyEaton, but it may process the Personal Data in accordance with Eaton's Data Protection and Privacy Notice and share it with third parties that Eaton retains to provide services on its behalf and to Eaton's sales representatives, which include third parties. In addition, Eaton may disclose Personal Data it collects through MyEaton to third party vendors to process or facilitate transactions between the third party vendor and the Authorized Party. Third party vendors may include companies that acquire parts of Eaton's business and process Personal Data under their own privacy policy, such as the Danfoss Privacy Policy.

MyEaton Terms of Use (Revised: September 19, 2025)

  5. Eaton sets no fixed retention period — data is kept as long as 'needed' or 'to the extent permitted by law' — and backup-archive copies are exempted from deletion until 'deletion is possible,' meaning copies can linger indefinitely.

Eaton will retain your Personal Data for as long as needed to provide you products or services; as needed for the purposes outlined in this Notice or at the time of collection; as necessary to comply with our legal obligations (e.g., to honour opt-outs), resolve disputes and enforce our agreements; or to the extent permitted by law. [...] If this is not possible (for example, because your Personal Data have been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your Personal Data and isolate them from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Privacy, cookies and data protection — Retention and deletion

  6. If anything goes wrong from your use of Eaton's website — or even an alleged violation — you agree to cover Eaton's legal costs, including its attorneys' fees. Eaton caps its own liability at zero; you indemnify it instead.

You agree to defend, indemnify, save and hold harmless Eaton, its licensees and Eaton's respective directors, officers, employees and agents from and against all liabilities, claims, damages and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the site, or your violation or alleged violation of the terms of this agreement.

How these were found

Documents read on Oct 1, 2026 via browser_open: Eaton Terms and Conditions (US, https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/company/policies-and-statements/terms-and-conditions.html, no revision date shown); MyEaton Terms of Use (Revised September 19, 2025, https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/company/policies-and-statements/myeaton-terms-and-conditions.html); Privacy, cookies and data protection US supplement (https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/company/policies-and-statements/privacy-cookies-and-data-protection.html, no revision date shown); data protection and privacy rights page (https://www.eaton.com/gb/en-gb/company/policies-and-statements/privacy-cookies-and-data-protection/data-protection-and-privacy-rights.html); retention-and-deletion language read only via official-domain search-result snippet (https://www.eaton.com/gb/en-gb/company/policies-and-statements/privacy-cookies-and-data-protection/retention-and-deletion.html), page not opened directly. A direct content-path privacy URL (www.eaton.com/content/eaton/us/en-us/company/policies-and-statements/privacy-cookies-and-data-protection.html/) returned HTTP 500; the canonical page path was used instead. No verbatim mirrors needed. Eaton is a B2B electrical/industrial manufacturer: no consumer subscription or e-commerce auto-renew terms exist to score, and most legal exposure is in negotiated B2B sales contracts not published publicly — scores reflect only the public website Terms of Use, MyEaton portal terms, and privacy notice.
