Where Clorox does well

  • Renewals 4 of 20. Few problems found.
  • Clorox's Autoship subscriptions are unusually fair: you can cancel at any time, they email a reminder 5 to 10 days before each shipment, and you can change or cancel up to 72 hours before a shipment.
  • Clorox does not sell personal information for money, does not sell or share sensitive personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) opt-out signals, and offers a simple 'Your Privacy Choices' opt-out link for targeted advertising.
  • Privacy rights requests are accessible via an online form plus a toll-free line (855-545-2325).
  • New Jersey residents get explicit carve-outs where the warranty disclaimer, liability cap, and indemnity are unenforceable under state law, and the Terms include specific protections for EU, UK, Canadian, and Australian users (including that arbitration may not apply to EU/UK residents).

Any dispute you have with Clorox — over its products, its site, or even its Privacy Policy — must go to private binding arbitration, and you cannot join or start a class action. (Small-claims court is still available.)

The fine print

6 clauses and findings from the draft archive, dated 1 October 2026. The plain English comes first; the small print is the company's own words. None of these has been checked yet.

  1. Any dispute you have with Clorox — over its products, its site, or even its Privacy Policy — must go to private binding arbitration, and you cannot join or start a class action. (Small-claims court is still available.)

You and Clorox agree that any dispute, claim or controversy between you and Clorox, including those known or unknown that may be later discovered... shall be determined by binding arbitration before one arbitrator... TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AND WE AGREE THAT EACH PARTY MAY BRING DISPUTES AGAINST THE OTHER PARTY ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A CLASS ACTION OR COLLECTIVE ACTION OR CLASS ARBITRATION.

    Terms of Use

  2. If the law normally gives you more than two years to file a claim, the Terms quietly cut it to two years — miss that window and your claim is dead.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, you and we agree that if any Dispute has a statute of limitations in excess of two years, such Dispute must be filed within two years after the Dispute accrued or it will be forever barred.

    Terms of Use

  3. Before you can arbitrate or sue, you must personally appear (phone or video) at a 60-day negotiation conference — and every customer gets their own separate conference even if the same lawyer represents many people. That's a deliberate gate against mass arbitration claims.

Compliance with this informal dispute resolution process is mandatory and a condition precedent to initiating an arbitration or litigation... The conference shall be individualized such that a separate conference must be held each time either party initiates a Dispute, even if the same law firm or group of law firms represents multiple users in similar cases.

    Terms of Use

  4. Anything you post — reviews, photos, even a branded hashtag on Instagram — becomes Clorox's forever: it can use your face and name in ads, sublicense it to others, and never pay you, and you can't take the license back.

By submitting User Content to us directly or indirectly (including through the use of hashtags on third party social media platforms), you grant to us... a royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable, irrevocable, and unrestricted right and license... for any purpose, including sale, manufacture or advertising... and (c) to use your name, screen name, location, photograph, avatar, image, voice, likeness and biographical information... in any and all media and for advertising or promotional purposes. You also... irrevocably waive any 'moral rights' or other rights with respect to attribution of authorship or integrity of your User Content.

    Terms of Use

  5. Clorox doesn't sell your data for cash, but it does hand cookies and even your email address to ad partners for behavioral advertising — and admits the law may call that a sale anyway.

Note that we do not 'sell' your personal information for money. As discussed elsewhere in the Privacy Policy, we use cookies and similar tracking technologies, as well as share email addresses and other non-cookie personal information, for purposes of behavioral advertising. Under applicable law, this may be considered a 'sale.'

    Privacy Policy

  6. Delete your account and your reviews, photos, and posts can live on Clorox's sites forever — account deletion does not remove your content.

Even after the termination of this Agreement or of your Account or access to a Site, any User Content you have posted or submitted may remain on a Site indefinitely.

How these were found

Both documents were fetched directly from thecloroxcompany.com on October 1, 2026; no mirrors or workarounds were needed. The Privacy Policy is dated 'Last Updated and Effective Date: December 8, 2023' — nearly three years old, so it predates several 2024-2026 state privacy laws, though Clorox has added separate pages (California Disclosures, How We Share Information, Cookie Settings) that were read via search-result snippets. No 'Last Updated' legend was visible in the fetched Terms of Use text. Clorox is a consumer-products company: most buyers never create an account or visit its sites, so findings apply mainly to website visitors, Rewards Program members, and Autoship/eCommerce customers — there is no broad consumer-account ecosystem the way there is for a tech company. Terms quote style note: quotes below are verbatim from the fetched documents.
